With another season rapidly upon us, it’s sometimes all too easy to forget what the world has been through over the last 18 months or so. The scale of the challenges we’ve faced could never have been predicted and still we’re seeing twists and turns on the road.
I’m really pleased that we’ll be able to resume our standard repairs service from Monday, 20 September. I know that it’s been one of the biggest frustrations for customers recently, and that hasn’t gone unheard. Once again, we’re bringing in further staff and resources as we try to reduce the number of repairs that have been delayed and I hope that frustrations will be drastically reduced.
We will still be asking a small number of customers to bear with us as we suffer from the same supply problems as every other sector at the moment. Timber, plaster and bricks are in short supply everywhere, but we’re doing everything we can to get the materials needed to tackle all outstanding jobs.
As ever, we’re placing the highest priority on safety critical work and we haven’t taken our eye off the ball on minimising the risks around Covid-19 either.
Away from repairs, we’ve seen some really high demand for many of our other services too. Our Lettings Team are currently working flat out to process an unprecedented number of applications for affordable homes from both new and existing customers.
Just like our colleagues in repairs teams, the staff who work in lettings have faced challenges of isolation and sickness that have contributed to some delays. And again, we’re bringing in extra people to help get through this issue as quickly as possible.
We are making substantial progress in meeting customer expectations across the services we deliver as we hopefully move towards the coronavirus pandemic being a memory. But we believe in being completely transparent when problems, frequently outside of our control, might have an impact on the high-quality services we know our customers deserve.
The journey ahead of us might not be completely smooth yet, but I can assure everyone that we’ll continue to put customers at the heart of all the decisions we make.
