As I write this, we’re just coming to terms with the announcement of new restrictions intended to limit the transmission of coronavirus.
It looks likely that many parts of our daily lives may be modified again in the weeks and months to come. But, for now at least, I’m pleased to say that the impact on services delivered by believe housing should be very limited.
Sadly, we don’t have a crystal ball at believe housing. But if we did, I suspect it would tell us to expect further changes to coronavirus related restrictions in the weeks and months ahead. We’ll do everything possible to stay up-to-speed with any developments, and of course we’ll keep customers informed if anything does impact on our services.
We haven’t changed our stance on safety at all though. The safety of our customers will always be believe housing’s number one priority.
Some really important repair and maintenance jobs can only be done in person, like the servicing of gas boilers and electrical testing. These are essential jobs and all health and safety guidance insists that they must continue to be carried out wherever possible.
All of our operatives who need to come into homes are still provided with all the personal protective equipment (PPE) they need to keep you, and them, safe. I’d really urge anyone with concerns to get in touch and talk to us about how we can keep everyone safe.
Long-standing customers will know that we have used technology like video calls to minimise the need to visit homes in person since the start of the pandemic. We’re not going to reduce that, as we know how valuable most customers have found the approach.
I don’t want to end on a downbeat note though. Despite all of the challenges during 2021, we have continued to provide homes and services for customers. Despite all of the obstacles along the way, we’ve made solid progress on major projects like our new-build homes programme and upgrades to existing homes. We’ve provided funding for dozens of community groups to continue their good work too.
I hope you have a good Christmas period and that we can all look forward to a successful 2022, regardless of whatever is put in our way.
