believe housing has published its annual report for the financial year 2019/20, giving customers and stakeholders the chance to learn more about the award-winning housing association’s performance.
The report covers the period from April 2019 to March 2020, including the start of the coronavirus pandemic and believe housing’s initial response.
It also documents the first 12-months of believe housing … Monday, 1 April 2019 marking the coming together of Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes and East Durham Homes to form believe housing.
While the most visible change was the bright new branding replacing the County Durham Housing Group name, the annual report shows that so much more has been achieved too.
It shows that more than 74,000 home repairs were completed, that 213 brand new homes welcomed their first tenant, and that nearly £39,000 was provided to local groups by our Community Funding Programme. It also shows that satisfaction with the services provided continues to be high; with 8.8 out of 10 customers satisfied with the repairs they received, for example.
The report also demonstrates the scale of the support customers can access from believe housing, even before the worst affects of the coronavirus pandemic hit our communities. More than 1,800 customers received specialist help with Universal Credit and 267 customers received dedicated support to help them find new, or better, employment. The result of the support is that fewer customers struggled to make their rent payments and more than 95% of new customers successfully maintained their home for the first 12-months.
Chief Executive of believe housing, Bill Fullen, said: “Our vision is to create a life without barriers for our customers, and I think our first annual report as believe housing shows that we’re on the road to achieving that.
“Although the world has changed massively in recent months, much of what we achieved in 2019/20 put us in the best possible place to get through the coronavirus pandemic. Crucially it also meant that we were able to adapt and expand the support we offer to customers like never before.
“I think there’s a lot for everyone at believe housing to be proud of in this report. But we’re not going to rest on our laurels and we’re more focussed than ever on providing the best possible service for our customers.”
