Staff at Durham City Homes have taken the New Year, New You mantra to heart after the organisation was awarded the Bronze Better Health at Work Award.

Awarded to organisations that demonstrate a desire to improve the health and well-being of their staff, Durham City Homes is the latest Durham based organisation to receive this prestigious award.

Health advocates within the organisation have worked with all members of staff to communicate messages of better health and mental well-being across the 80 strong workforce. Staff have spent 2015 learning about healthy living, healthy eating, exercise and mental well-being in time to welcome in the New Year by putting this into practise.

Service Improvement Officer (Policy Development), Angela Stobbart volunteered as a Health Advocate and was one of a small group who provided staff with an active programme of health activities as part of the programme. Angela said, “I’m really pleased that we’ve got the Bronze Award, this was a real team effort and a great achievement”.

Neil Quigley, Health and Safety Co-ordinator said, “The Better Health at Work Award shows Durham City Homes commitment to making sure that our staff are given the best possible support to achieve their health and fitness goals” .
