Fire Safety Statement

3 July 2017 - Latest news

As a tenant of one of our group landlords you may have questions or concerns about fire safety following the Grenfell Tower incident. We would like to reassure you that we take fire safety in our properties very seriously.

believe housing undertakes a number of regular fire checks across communal areas of buildings. These include:

  • Fire risk assessments
  • Regular fire alarm testing
  • Regular electrical testing
  • Regular servicing of fire-fighting equipment in communal areas
  • Ensuring fire escape routes are kept clear and free of combustible materials.

Since the incident at Grenfell Tower concerns have been raised about the type of cladding used on some high rise blocks. As a group, we don’t own or manage any high rise blocks, but we would like to assure you that we have carried out checks to all of our properties and can confirm that none are clad with the type of materials used at Grenfell Tower.

We will continue to monitor any recommendations as a result of the Public Inquiry into Grenfell Tower as well as other advice or guidance on fire safety and take action where necessary.

Further information on fire safety in your home can be found here.

If you have concerns about your property we can arrange for a free safe and wellbeing visit from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service. Further information can be found here.
