believe housing has retained the highest possible rating for governance from the social housing regulator.
The Regulator of Social Housing today confirmed that believe housing has been handed the highest possible score for governance for the second time. In its judgement, the regulator concluded that believe housing’s governance arrangements enable it to adequately control the organisation and to continue meeting its objectives.
The judgement follows an In Depth Assessment carried out by the Regulator of Social Housing, which took place earlier this year. The assessment included face to face interviews with senior management at believe housing as well as the Chair of the Board. They also reviewed the work of the award-winning County Durham-based housing association’s Audit Committee and interviewed the groups chair.
The judgement means that believe housing retains the formal ‘G1’ score for governance from the regulator. The regulator marks housing associations from 1 to 4.
Chair of the believe housing Board, Judith Common, said: “I am delighted with this result. It’s a testament to all the hard work that everyone has put in to ensuring that believe housing is a great success.
“It’s particularly satisfying to retain such a high score at a time when the organisation is working so hard to improve the services that it provides to customers, invest in existing properties and deliver hundreds of new homes.”
In line with all judgements, the Social Housing Regulator also reviewed believe housing’s financial viability. It concluded that the existing score of ‘V2’ should also be retained. The judgement noted that believe housing’s financial planning can continue to support the large-scale investment programme for both new and existing homes.
Chief Executive of believe housing, Bill Fullen, added. “In these challenging times for all providers of essential services, it’s particularly rewarding to receive good news like this.
“Given the transformation we’ve delivered in the last year, from County Durham Housing Group to becoming believe housing, and all the positive changes we are implementing for our customers, it is a tremendous accolade for our dedicated workforce.”
