Housing association joins fight against hunger

28 October 2020 - Latest news

believe housing is playing its part in tackling the threat of hunger during the coronavirus pandemic with food parcels to customers in need.

The award-winning housing association is arranging for food parcels to be delivered to customers who are finding things tough. Groceries and fresh food are being dropped off at the doorsteps of residents believe housing are working with, who were identified as needing additional support.

The first 20 families to benefit received staples like bread and fresh fruit on Monday, 26 October. Staff have volunteered their spare time to make the deliveries possible on top of their day jobs.

The direct delivery of food parcels is just the latest initiative by believe housing to tackle hunger in the communities it serves. It has also supported dozens of community projects providing food to those in need, from neighbourhood cafes to food banks.

Mark Hopper, Neighbourhood Team Leader at believe housing, said: “We’re all acutely aware of just how massive the impact of the coronavirus pandemic has been on many families. To put it simply, we want to do all we can to help.

“The food parcels are a very practical way that we can help, alongside the huge amount of advice and support we offer our customers with things like finding employment and welfare reform.”
