The employees will raise money for the charity by cycling from northern Northumberland to Scotland as part of the Wooler Wheel event taking place this Saturday, 14 May.

Emma Gibson, Repairs Coordinator at the housing group, said: “My brother Andrew was born with a hole in his heart and his lungs never fully developed.

“He managed to live a normal life and amaze doctors with his progress and attitude until he collapsed in 2005 and passed away at the age of 21.

“Andrew was supported throughout his life by British Heart Foundation, so my family have continued to fundraise for the charity in his memory.

“My colleagues have now got involved and kindly decided that they would like to help us raise money for this worthy cause.

“On Sunday, 8 May, my colleague Neil Graham ran a half marathon in Geneva to raise money for the charity.

“And this Saturday, 14 May, Neil will be joining a group of teammates to cycle in the Wooler Wheel to raise further funds for British Heart Foundation in Andrew’s memory.”

Anyone wanting to sponsor the team can make a donation online on their JustGiving page.
