Find out how to find faults on your heating system, if it's not working.

If you notice that your heating is not working, then there are a few things you can do to find out what’s wrong. This video will take you through how to fault find on your heating system.

For this repair you might need:

  • warm, not boiling water
  • batteries

You can also follow along with the steps below.

In cold weather, the condensate pipes on your boiler can freeze over.

This can be rectified by pouring warm water, not boiling water, over the pipes.

One common problem for pressure loss on a boiler is a leaking radiator valve.

You can spot this by looking for staining around the valve, or puddles of water on your floor underneath the valve.

If you notice that your hot water is working, but your heating is not, you can check your thermostat.

Make sure that the thermostat is turned up high enough and that there is call for heat.

If you’re just moving into a new property and you notice your central heating is not working, you may need your turn on and test doing.

If you come to your thermostat and there is no display, open the thermostat up and try changing your batteries.
