A young dad has been able to give his family the consistency he was searching for after landing a permanent job, with a little help from believe housing.
James was working as a HGV driver but when the work dried up he popped along to a jobs fair in Bowburn, hosted by believe housing association in February.
In his 20s, with three children and a partner, James wanted a more secure job with a steady income.
Hollie, an Employability Coordinator with the County Durham-based housing association, helped James to search and apply for job opportunities.
She spotted a council job she felt would suit him so sent it his way.
Within weeks of the jobs fair, James had an interview and he’s now in a permanent full-time position.
He says: “Hollie was great at helping me.
“Initially I’d gone along thinking there might be a role at believe housing and had no idea about the support they can give tenants.
“It has made a great difference to have consistent money coming in and to be working closer to home. I can support us better now.
“Knowing what I’ll earn, and when, makes it easier to budget and takes away stress.
“I’d tell anyone to take as much support as they can, utilise everything on offer from believe housing and other organisations to make life a bit easier.”
