A contractor working for believe housing has donated toys to a County Durham refuge.
REGEN Solutions made the donation to Wear Valley Women’s Aid in Bishop Auckland, which supports women and children escaping domestic and sexual abuse, as part of its contract for safety and improvement works in believe housing homes.
Simon Harris, Social Value Administrator at believe housing, said: “It is important to us that our contractors and suppliers deliver social value to benefit our communities.
“It was inspiring to visit Wear Valley Women’s Aid when REGEN Solutions delivered the toys. It is providing vital accommodation and support to women and children, who we hope will enjoy the toys.”
Anth Wade, Managing Director of RE:GEN Solutions, said: “We were only too happy to donate toys to the centre, which provides a safe haven for up to eight families at a time.
“Often, when these families leave their homes, children are unable to bring any personal belongings. These toys will hopefully offer some comfort, giving them something to call their own during what is an incredibly difficult and uncertain time.
“The centre, which has been supporting women and children for nearly 25 years, offers not only shelter but also emotional and practical support through its eight self-contained units.
We were inspired by the dedication of the team, and we’re grateful to work alongside believe housing, who’ve supported this centre before and helped us make this meaningful contribution.”
Alison Hope, Manager at Wear Valley Women’s Aid, said: “Donations like this that help us to go the extra mile, ensuring that residents and their children have a happier, more positive experience while staying here. We really appreciate the generosity of all those involved.”
