A County Durham football club’s venue has been enhanced for fans and the wider community after its clubhouse was revamped.
Crook Town AFC’s clubhouse exterior was repainted, thanks to housing association believe housing and its painting contractor, Dunningham Decorators.
The northeast-based company, which works with believe housing, was eager to take on a community project as part of its social value commitment.
So, when the housing association found out the club needed work doing it contacted Dunningham Decorators, which happily provided 56 hours of voluntary work and nearly £500 in materials to complete the work.
Chris MacDonald, chairman of the Northern League club, said an “amazing job” had been done, benefiting both the club and the wider community.
He said: “It really tidies the building up and will allow us to attract new bookings.
“We open the clubhouse as a welcome space for the elderly and fundraising for local charities, and it is available for private bookings.
“This voluntary work will help us carry on this work and hopefully attract a few more people to use our facilities, so it is a better community facility and generating income for the club. We also use the building for local and national elections.
“The work has really given the building more curb appeal and is very much appreciated.”
