Community groups are being invited to apply for funding from believe housing to deliver projects that tackle social isolation and anti-social behaviour in Durham communities.
Based on its understanding of local communities, the housing association has identified two priorities for its current round of community investment.
Grants of between £10,000 and £30,000 are available for projects that reduce loneliness and social isolation in Brandon, Browney, Langley Moor and Meadowfield, and up to £15,000 is available for projects that help tackle anti-social behaviour in Ushaw Moor.
Community groups, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to apply for support to deliver local solutions that make a positive difference for residents.
Damian Pearson, Community Investment Performance Team Leader at believe housing, said: “The issues we’re focusing on have been identified through our understanding of local communities, drawing on insight from colleagues, partners and the information we hold about our neighbourhoods.
“By targeting funding where it can make the biggest difference, we can support organisations that are well placed to respond to local challenges and improve people’s wellbeing.
“We know people are more likely to thrive when they feel safe, connected and supported where they live, which is why we’re investing in projects that address local challenges and strengthen communities.”
In Brandon, Browney, Langley Moor and Meadowfield, funding could support befriending and community projects that help people build social connections, improve wellbeing and access support when they need it.
In Ushaw Moor, funding will support projects that bring people together, create positive opportunities for young people and help residents play an active role in creating a safer, stronger community.
Applications for the funding are open now.
Organisations interested in applying must submit an expression of interest by 4pm on Monday, 24 August 2026, with full applications due by 4pm on Monday, 7 September 2026.
The Community Investment Team will work with organisations that have an eligible project idea to help them through the application process.
