Free open day to help 18 to 25-year-olds improve wellbeing and take a step closer to work

Young people living in believe housing homes are being invited to a free open day in Durham to find out how boxing, mentoring and personal support can help them build confidence, learn new skills and get closer to work, training or education.

The event is run by County Durham organisation Go The Distance CIC and is open to residents aged 18 to 25 who want help meeting new people, getting out more or finding a path into work.

It is for residents in areas including Belmont, Carrville, Claypath, Gilesgate, Gilesgate Moor, Sherburn Road, Sherburn Road Estate and nearby neighbourhoods.

Go The Distance CIC helps people overcome challenges, build confidence and create new opportunities through sport (particularly boxing), education and mentoring.

The open day is part of the Bridging Work Project, which received an £8,000 community grant from believe housing.

The project offers one-to-one support for young people who are out of work, including help with CVs, job applications, interviews, training and work experience. It also helps people develop life skills and improve their wellbeing.

At the open day, residents can meet the team, ask questions and learn how the project could help them.
