Community groups are invited to apply for believe housing grants to deliver projects in Crook, Willington, Sunnybrow and Billy Row, where the housing association has more than 1,600 homes.
Following recent engagement with customers and local stakeholders, four priorities have been identified for the area.
Grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 are available for projects that support one or more of the following:
- Positive opportunities for young people: Providing activities, mentoring, personal development, education, training, sports and creative opportunities that help young people build confidence, develop skills and make positive life choices.
- Employability, skills and training: Supporting people to develop skills, gain qualifications and experience, access training, build confidence, and progress into volunteering, apprenticeships, education or employment.
- Reducing isolation and improving wellbeing: Creating opportunities for people to connect with others, build support networks, improve mental health and wellbeing, and reduce social isolation and loneliness.
- Reducing antisocial behaviour: Delivering preventative and diversionary activities that engage young people and residents, encourage positive behaviour, strengthen community pride and contribute to safer neighbourhoods.
Kimberley Smith, Community Investment Coordinator at believe housing, said: “We have listened to customers and local stakeholders to understand where our community funding can make the biggest difference.
“We’re keen to hear from projects that bring fresh ideas, particularly those that engage young people, help them build skills, access opportunities and achieve positive outcomes.
“Organisations should start developing their ideas now and show how their project will respond to local needs and deliver clear benefits for residents in Crook, Willington, Sunnybrow and Billy Row.”
Applications for the funding open at 9am on Monday, 14 September 2026.
Organisations interested in applying must submit an expression of interest by 4pm on Friday, 9 October 2026, with full applications due by 4pm on Friday, 23 October 2026.
The Community Investment Team will review the information provided and contact organisations with strong proposals. They may then be invited to submit a full application and will be supported through the application process.
