Taking the first step towards a new job can be difficult, but almost 200 people did just that at a County Durham jobs fair recently.
believe housing organised the event at Peterlee Methodist Church on Monday, 22 June.
During the two-hour event, 198 people found out about jobs, training and support. They met a range of employers, recruitment agencies and training providers, as well as believe housing’s Employability Team.
Claire Maddison, Employability Performance Team Leader at believe housing, said:
“It was a good event, with employers and training providers on hand to talk about the opportunities available and how people can access them.
“It was also great to see so many people come along with an open mind. Some were looking for a specific role, while others wanted to find out more about their options and the support available.
“We know things like transport, qualifications or waiting periods before reapplying can make finding work more difficult. But people do not have to do it alone. With the right support, a job, training course or apprenticeship can make a real difference.
“At believe housing, helping people into work is one of the many ways we support customers and communities to thrive. Secure employment can improve confidence, wellbeing and financial stability, helping people build brighter futures for themselves and their families.
“We are grateful to everyone who supported the event. By working together, we can connect more people with opportunities and create stronger, healthier communities.”
