A collaborative consortium of housing associations across the North East has been awarded £350m in funding to deliver much needed new affordable housing across the region.
believe housing, alongside Karbon Homes, Bernicia, Durham Aged Mineworkers Homes Association and Livin Housing are confirmed Strategic Partners with Homes England through the new Social and Affordable Homes Programme.
As Strategic Partners, the consortium has received £350m in funding to provide 2,533 new affordable homes, meeting customer needs throughout northeast England while also strengthening local communities.
The consortium also hopes to strengthen procurement, share expertise and support the development of a more resilient construction supply chain.
Kate Abson, Director of Assets and Development at believe housing, said: “We’re delighted to secure this initial funding award as part of the Social and Affordable Homes Programme, which allows us to start construction immediately of new affordable homes across County Durham.
“At a time when demand for quality, affordable housing continues to grow, this investment will help us provide more people and families with access to the healthy homes they need.
“We look forward to working with Homes England and our partners to play our part in delivering this once-in-a-generation increase in affordable housing.”
