A single mother says she and her four children have a brighter future ahead after receiving support from believe housing.
Phoebe, whose name has been changed to protect her identity, moved into a believe housing home after fleeing domestic abuse and staying in a women’s refuge.
While rebuilding her life with her young family, she struggled with confidence and poor mental health and felt unable to return to work.
After being referred through the believe housing app, Phoebe accessed support from the housing association’s Employability Team.
Working with Employability Coordinator Joanne Brown, she explored her options and gradually rebuilt her confidence.
Starting with a food hygiene course, Phoebe was encouraged to consider returning to a role she had previously enjoyed as a special educational needs teaching assistant.
With Joanne’s support, she has secured a job at a local school.
Phoebe said: “I was very stressed because I was desperate to find a job.
“Joanne gave me the support, encouragement, and practical advice that I had been missing. She believed in me when I was feeling overwhelmed and helped me every step of the way.
“It is so important that my children see me getting on with life and being a strong role model. They’ll see me going out to work to earn a living and do a job I care about, while still spending lots of time with them.”
Joanne Brown, Employability Coordinator at believe housing, said: “It has been a privilege to support Phoebe on her journey. She has shown incredible determination and resilience, and I wish her every success in her new role.”
