Find out how to bleed a radiator.

If you notice your radiator is cooler at the top than it is at the bottom, there is probably air in the radiator. This video will walk you through some quick and simple steps on how to bleed your radiator

For this repair you will need:

  • A bleed key
  • Tissue or cloth to catch the water

You can also follow along with the steps below.

Turn off your heating and let your radiators cool down, this is to stop your radiators from being to hot when you are touching them and to avoid hot water leaking out.

Insert your bleed key into the bleed valve at the top of your radiator.

Make sure you’ve got your tissue to catch the bit of water that comes out.

Turn the bleed key anticlockwise and you will hear the air get released.

Once the water starts to come, turn the bleed key back clockwise.

top tip

Bleeding a radiator removes some of the pressure from your boiler, so once you’ve finished you will need to check your boiler pressure.
