Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report

Welcome to our 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report.

This report gives us the opportunity to reflect on the progress we have made as a business on our sustainability and impact. At a time when social housing is at the forefront of government policy, there has never been a more important time to demonstrate our value and have real insight into how our business is performing. In the coming months proposed changes in areas such as energy ratings, decent homes standards and leaseholder protections will make it even more important to fully understand how we are performing and what improvements we need to make to keep pace with the rate of change.

I am so proud of how far we have come as an organisation since our first ESG report was published. believe housing has always been a place where people come to work to really make a difference and this shows in how we have improved and innovated. Our culture and values are key in delivering for our customers and have become something we as a business are known for. By always coming back to ‘doing the right thing’, there is no change or challenge we cannot overcome. We have recently agreed our new Corporate Plan setting out our key aims and ambitions for 2025-28.

This recognises the ongoing challenges and how we need to keep assessing the challenges and balancing our priorities against a backdrop of financial pressures. It also helps us seek out the opportunities to provide continued focus on delivering customer focussed service and investment in the delivery of much needed homes of the future that give our customers a healthy foundation for their lives. I am excited to see how we not only meet these challenges but do so with our usual culture and positivity.

Our approach

Our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance is a key indicator of our sustainability and resilience as a business. It is our opportunity to measure what we do, show how we understand our performance and demonstrate improvement.

As a business we are already measured using the Governance and Financial Viability Standard, alongside the Consumer Standards that were introduced last year. Our ESG report is an opportunity to bring together this information and give a holistic view of our sustainability performance, using softer metrics that are linked to positive outcomes.

We also continue to align our reporting to the UN Sustainability Goals, recognising the impact our business can have by doing our part in the global agenda.
