The large historic town of Bishop Auckland has existed since at least 1000AD and boasts the stunning Auckland Castle, which hosts Kynren each year.
Other local attractions include Bishop Auckland Golf Club, Binchester Roman Fort and Escomb Saxon Church.
This busy town is perfectly situated for commuters and shoppers alike. Well served by local shops, supermarkets, a library, theatre and art gallery, as well as numerous pubs, restaurants and cafes. Bishop Auckland also has rail links to Saltburn, as well as local bus services to Darlington and Durham.

Coundon and Leeholme are small towns approximately five miles from Bishop Auckland itself and only 10 miles from the A1 motorway. Public transport links run regularly to Bishop Auckland, Shildon, Spennymoor and Durham city centre. As well as local shops Coundon offers two primary schools – Victoria Lane Academy and St Joseph’s RCVA Primary.
