coronavirus update

The latest changes in coronavirus restrictions have created new challenges for our repairs service, with more than 10% of our frontline staff being asked to isolate.

We’ve made some temporary changes to services and from Tuesday, 20 July, we will only be handling essential repairs requests until further notice.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

These changes will be reviewed weekly and a full repairs service will be resumed as soon as possible.

living in Durham city west

Durham city is internationally recognisable. With Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle at its heart, this beautiful medieval city retains much of the original architecture.

Also a University city, Durham has a vibrant and modern culture. Surrounded by stunning countryside and within easy access of the A1, A19 and the main east coast trainline, this is a city for people with places to go and things to do.

The River Wear runs through the city centre, offering an oasis of peace by way of a charming riverside walk a mere stone’s throw away from the bustling city centre.

Well served by supermarkets, a post office, library, high street chain stores, pubs, restaurants, cafes, in and outdoor markets, as well as quirky boutique and lifestyle shops, this deceptively compact city has everything you need.

Public transport links run to all other towns and villages across the county as well as other north east cities.

Schools in the area include Durham Trinity School and Sports College, St Leonard’s Catholic School, Durham Johnston School, St Margaret’s C of E Primary School, Durham School, The Chorester School, and Durham Sixth Form Centre.
