Robinson House Consultation Letter

believe housing has been looking at the future investment requirements at Robinson House, the type of homes here and the demand for these, and the costs of running the building. These all pose significant challenges and we have been looking at what options there are to address these issues.

More detailed background can be found in the additional information on this page but, in summary, include:

  • poor demand, with homes sitting empty for considerable periods of time and with high levels of turnover
  • high investment needs, including the flats themselves, the fabric of the building and the heating and hot water system
  • high running costs, with a significant loss each year
  • stricter government requirements related to managing blocks like Robinson House, with increased investment and running costs as a result.

For these reasons and after careful consideration, the Board of believe housing has reached the difficult decision to consult with customers on proposals to demolish Robinson House. Please be assured that this decision has not been taken lightly and that believe housing’s board has given considerable thought and care to the process. We understand how unsettling this may be and want to assure you that our priority is working with you through this process.

We want your views on proposals to demolish Robinson House
