The Opportunity

We are looking for someone who shares our vision and values, can see the bigger picture and work constructively with others. An understanding of the challenges facing communities in County Durham is important, as is a genuine commitment to inclusion, customer focus, and strong governance.

You’ll be a confident communicator with a natural curiosity and a willingness to ask insightful questions. Whilst you may have experience is areas such as customer service, risk, compliance or asset management, the Board is well balanced in terms of experience, so we do not need to be prescriptive about your professional or sector background. We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and whether you are early in your career or bring a wealth of experience, what matters most is your alignment with our values and your desire to make a meaningful contribution.

about the role

Contribute experience, insight and expertise to steer and direct believe housing to achieve its corporate and charitable objectives in line with the vision and values.
Support the Chair and the rest of the Board in ensuring good governance, financial viability and compliance with the appropriate regulatory and legal frameworks.

what’s on offer?

• £6,000 per annum plus reasonable expenses
• The role is appointed on the basis of a three year term. This could be renewed for a further three year term.
• Applicants must be 18 or over and meet the ‘fit and proper persons’ test, as set out by HMRC, for anyone who influences the financial assets of a charity.
