The North East Housing Partnership (NEHP) has published a new prospectus setting out how social housing providers will work together to support long-term renewal across the region.
believe housing is a member of NEHP, alongside other social landlords and local authorities.
The prospectus comes at an important point for the region. The North East Combined Authority has set out a clear long-term direction through five missions on opportunity, pride in place, inclusive growth, green energy and global connections.
National housing policy is also increasingly focused on long-term investment, partnership and more joined-up, place-based delivery.
Across both agendas, housing is recognised as central to supporting healthier lives, stronger communities and a more productive regional economy.
Established three years ago, NEHP has helped strengthen collaboration across the sector.
The new prospectus, Building better lives: a fresh prospectus for a decade of renewal in the North East, builds on this work by setting out outcomes-focused commitments and closer alignment between housing investment and regional priorities.
It sets out how, as a partnership, NEHP can tackle the challenges the region faces by making progress together in four thematic areas:
In each case, housing provides a starting point to wider social, environmental and economic outcomes. And in each case, these outcomes can be strengthened and enhanced by close partnership with the new Mayor and combined authority.
